Cambridge is a scintillating beautiful city in the East of England, with links deeply forged into the history books. Complete with wonderful historical buildings of the internationally famous University, set on the picturesque banks of the River Cam. People have settled here since 1st Century BC. Cambridge will delight and enthral most of her visitors, whether a tourist wishing to explore the diverse attractions, or a photographer or artist with a wealth of magic to capture that would take a lifetime…. It has to be the stunning architecture of the University that will fulfil the curiosity of most visitors, and make it the first stop on anyone’s agenda, the oldest of the colleges is Peterhouse, which was founded in 1284, the opportunity to sample the history whether you join a walking tour and see the famous Kings College and Chapel, or St Johns College, why not take a ghost tour and see where ghostly happenings have occurred……or for relaxation, a trip to the University Botanical Gardens where hundreds of plants jostle for admiration. Of course no visit would ever be complete without sampling a ride on a ‘Punt’ whether you hire one from Silver Street, or Quayside by Magdalene Bridge and discover the ‘Backs‘, or perhaps it would be safer to ride in a ‘chauffer punt’ and relax as you glide past some of the prettiest scenery ever captured. If a Punt is not for you there are other options available, perhaps a cruise, or time it right and watch the ‘Bumps Races’ where Rowers battle it out. To lighten the wallet is an easy request as there are a myriad of shops on offer, not least the fabulous Market, where stalls are covered with canopies, and anything from food to clothes is available, on Sundays there is a Craft and Farmers Market. All of the major shopping streets lead into Market Square. One of the best ways to get around, apart from on foot or the punts that glide, has to be by bicycle which are easily hired, and a fun way of getting around, as long as you can ride one….Or be brave and take to the skies in Aeromega Helicopters that take you on a flight around Cambridge.. The wealth of secrets on show at many museums will keep the inquisitive happy, such as the Fitzwilliam Folk Museum which tells a fine story through exhibits covering the last three hundred years of domestic history.
