Alastair Cook

Not bad for someone whose technique had been called into question in the lead up to the current Ashes: Alastair Cook has just broken Australian hopes and hearts by making his highest first class score of 235 not out, securing a draw and thereby very possibly changing the whole course of the series. Still just 25, Alastair Cook has already played in 60 test matches for England. He made an immediate impact when rushed from an Academy tour of the West Indies to make his debut – and a century - against India in Nagpur. Now he has notched up 14 test tons, and amassed 4666 test runs. Cook has boyish good looks, plays the saxophone expertly, and speaks intelligently when interviewed. But apart from that, what has he got going for him?
