Boris Johnson

“Is it a bird? (Perhaps a dodo). Is it a plane? (Biggles at the controls). No it’s super-Boris, that knight on shining Raleigh who rescued filmmaker Franny Armstrong from a girl gang of would-be muggers earlier this month. Whether you’d vote for him or not Boris Johnson, writer, mayor, scholar, cyclist, Old Etonian, game show host and our hero of the week, is certainly different. He has the charm (and danger) of someone who speaks his erudite mind. Faced with a similar situation other politicians would have withdrawn to set up a working committee exploring policy options (roughly the police advice afterwards, rather sadly). Boris charged the oiks (his word), one of whom was armed with an iron bar. They fled. Even Liverpool may find it easier to forgive him now, and the rest of us certainly warmed to him for showing the real meaning of direct action.
